Constructing thesaurus starting from existent thesaurus:
the experience of TCI - Thesaurus of Information Science

Resumo: A necessidade de um tesauro atualizado
em Ciência da Informação para experimentos relativos
à atualização semi-automática de tesauros levou
a construção de um Tesauro em Ciência da Informação
(TCI) a partir de tesauros existentes na área. Foram eleitos os
tesauros do IBICT, em português, do ASIS, em inglês, do DOCUTES
e o do CINDOC, ambos em espanhol. Os três últimos foram traduzidos
para o português resguardando as facetas originárias. O tesauro
ASIS tornou-se base para o novo tesauro. Foram realizadas adequações
no novo instrumento no sentido que o mesmo pudesse responder às
questões de representação informacional no âmbito
da Ciência da Informação no Brasil. O texto apresenta
as etapas de sistematização e implementação
do Tesauro e a o detalhamento da metodologia para criação
de tesauros em outras áreas em circunstâncias semelhantes.

Abstract: The need of a current thesaurus in Information
Science for experiments to semiautomatic updates of thesaurus lead to a
construction of a Tesauro em Ciência da Informação
(TCI) from existing ones. Therefore, was chosen thesaurus from IBICT, in
Portuguese, from ASIS, in English, from DOCUTES and from CINDOC, both in
Spanish. The last three ones were translated to Portuguese keeping their
original facets. The thesaurus ASIS become the basis to a new thesaurus
it was made some adaptations in the instrument in order to answer the questions
concerning the representation of information in the context of Information
Science in Brazil. The present article describes the stages of thesaurus
construction and the details of the methodology to create thesaurus in
other areas in similar circumstances.

Resumo: Breve retrospectiva acerca da função
da linguagem de especialidade e da ordem da informação
para a produção do conhecimento. Apresenta-se a terminologia
da linguagem de especialidade como elemento nuclear não só
para o entendimento do domínio - seja técnico, tecnológico
ou científico - mas também para a comunicação
e produção do conhecimento. Enuncia-se proposta de
estrutura terminológica do domínio da "inovação
tecnológica" comparando-a com duas diferentes ordens de informação
- dois tesauros - para demonstrar que organização do conhecimento
e organização da informação são processos
solidários, cuja dissociação provoca o comprometimento
da formação e do desenvolvimento da pesquisa.

Abstract: Small retrospect concerning the function
of the language and the order of the information for the production of
the knowledge. It is presented terminology of the specialty language
as a nuclear element not only for the agreement of the domain - either
technician, technological or scientific - but also for the communication
and production of the knowledge. It presents proposal of terminological
structure of the domain of the "technological innovation" comparing it
with two different orders of information - two thesaurus - to demonstrate
that organization of the knowledge and organization of the information
are solidary processes, whose dissociation provokes the commitment of the
formation and the development of the research.
